Bituminous Primer (BS4147:1980 TYPE A GRADE B)
A low viscosity bituminous solution, it is highly penetrative and has good adhesive qualities for use in priming pipe surfaces before the application of bitumen-based coating enamel. It is highly penetrative and has good adhesion to most surfaces.

The bitumen used as a base for the primer must have ** characteristics.

Application and Handling

Surface Preparation
The surface must be clean, dry and sound. A thin coat is applied by brush or spray. Allow to dry completely before over-coating.

0°C to 50°C.

No thinning of Bituminous Primer is required as it is supplied ready for use.

Handling Precautions
  • Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing
  • Avoid breathing vapour, spray or mists
  • Do not breathe fumes which may accumulate in the vapor head-space of containers
  • When using do not eat, drink or smoke
  • When handling, safety footwear should be worn and proper handling equipment should be used
  • Keep away from sources of ignition including pilot lights & sparks
Storage Life
Store in tightly closed containers under cover and in accordance with the Highly Flammable Liquids REgulations, away from sources of heat and ignition. Indefinite storage life under good storage conditions in sealed containers.

  • In steel drums of 209 litres filled to 205litres/drum.
  • In other suitable containers as requested by customers
